Our Story
Gruff and self assured, the rugged country boy set off on his life’s journey experiencing the glory of the outdoors. He tackled the elusive art of hunting, dominated the steeds, jumped out of an airplane 13,000 feet above sea level, tried his hand at fishing, corralled the cattle, and developed a taste for open flame cooking. However, none of these disciplines seemed challenging enough for his skillful savvy. No hobby seemed to satisfy or keep his attention long. Soon he realized that the only hobby worthy enough to try his skills beyond natural limits would be the ultimate challenge of a woman. Hence, the wise, since the beginning of time, have coined the phrase, “meet your match”. (see footnote 1)
She was a humble amiable girl, innocent in nature. She never complained, kept her opinions to herself, was always soft spoken, and loved to pass the lonely days by singing quietly to herself. If seen at a party, she would blend in with the crowd and was easily overlooked. Many considered her a wallflower. She had an unusually gentle compassionate nature. Her days consisted of volunteering to help those less fortunate by offering her time and talents. She loved to cook, mend clothes, teach young children and write poetry. She longed to marry and dreamed of the day she could have her own kitchen and decorate her own house. The moment he came into her life, the sun began to shine for her. All of her dreams were finally coming true. (see footnote 2)
As a long established bachelor his task would not be easily attained. Fortunately, fate was on his side. One stormy day in the heart of winter, a snow storm caught her off guard as she was traveling to deliver hot homemade bread to her grandmother. The snow was falling so thick that she lost her way. A ferocious cougar thought to take advantage of her predicament by taunting her with his sharp teeth. The wound was not fatal, but the effects devastating. She could not find her way and would soon perish if help did not arrive quickly. Luckily for her, the strong handsome country boy was taking his usual leisurely drives in the mountains. He heard her cry for help and ran to the rescue. 19 long months it took to heal her wounds. He attended to her every day. Watched and waited for her healthy recovery. (see footnote 3)
When she finally awoke from her dormant existence, the sleeping beauty realized the country boy had saved her life. She vowed her love for him, and they lived happily ever after.
